His publications include To Craft Democracies: An Essay on Democratic Transitions (1990), and The Central American Impasse (1986), coedited with Laurence Whitehead. His article is based on papers presented at the Conference of Europeanists in Washington, D.C. and the 1990 meeting of the Italian Political Science Association.
