About the Author

Adebayo Adedeji is executive director of the African Centre for Development and Strategic Studies (ACDESS) in Ijebu-Ode, Nigeria. He founded ACDESS in 1991 after 16 years of service in the United Nations, from which he retired as an undersecretary-general and executive secretary of the Economic Commission for Africa. From 1971 to 1975, he was Nigeria’s federal minister for economic development and reconstruction.
