About the Author
William F.S. Miles is professor of political science at Northeastern University in Boston. His works focusing on democracy in the developing world include Elections in Nigeria and Elections and Ethnicity in French Martinique. His most recent book, Bridging Mental Boundaries in a Postcolonial Microcosm, is about the island nation of Vanuatu. The author has benefited from a Fulbright Senior Scholar Research Grant to Mauritius in 1996–97 and a return visit to Mauritius funded by Northeastern University to attend an international conference in December 1998.
