Shlomo Avineri
Shlomo Avineri, professor of political science at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, was recently a guest scholar at the Brookings Institution, where he worked on problems of nationalism in Eastern Europe. His books include The Social and Political Thought of Karl Marx (1968), Hegel’s Theory of the Modern State (1973), The Making of Modern Zionism (1981), and Communitarianism and Individualism (with Avner de Shalit, 1992).
