About the Author
Rasul Bakhsh Rais has been visiting professor of Pakistan studies at Columbia University since 1991, and is also director of the Area Study Center at Quaid-i-Azam University in lslamabad. His most recent book is War Without Winners: Afghanistan’s Uncertain Transition After the Cold War (1994).
