Krzysztof Stanowski, an activist in Poland’s underground Solidarity movement and the leader of an independent scouting movement during the 1980s, was program director of the Warsaw-based Foundation for Education for Democracy (FED) until 1997. A historian by training, he currently serves as coordinator of the FED’s international programs in Eastern Europe and the New Independent States (NIS).
